Austin's really works with you to ensure they take care of your needs.

On 12/14/2024 Jennette Welter-Fichtel had this to say:
A pleasure to rent from. My daughter has rented since 5th grade through school orchestra program. She is now in college and they accommodate short term rentals while she was back in town. Always kind and professional people here. I would recommend them to anyone looking to rent or purchase.

On 12/3/2024 Erin had this to say:
I rented from Austin's Violin Shop through my music school, and although I never stepped foot in their physical shop, they were always patient and helpful on the phone when I had questions about anything. You can tell that they geuinely care more about speading the joy of music than anything. Even though their shop is a hike from me, I'll likely be using their services in the future because of how much I like them. Thank you for everything!

On 10/3/2024 Adam Watts had this to say:
This is hands down one of the best shops in the Chicagoland area. They have the best selection of instruments for all levels, friendly service, and expert repairs. At Austin’s you will find the staff to be extremely knowledgeable and they are very attentive to what your specific needs are. I have rented violins for my daughter and my self, and they have never disappointed. When I found out my other violin shop closed down I was afraid I wouldn’t find another like it. I’m happy to say that Austin’s has become my go to and my favorite! 👍🏼

FAQ

Are you open on Mondays or in the mornings?
Yes, Austin's Violin Shop is available by appointment only on Monday and during morning hours. To schedule a visit during these times, please contact us in advance to arrange an appointment that fits your needs.
What does my first year free maintenance cover?
Instrument purchases come with one year of free maintenance. This first year perk covers general maintenance. Some examples of regular maintenance include adjustments to the set-up (pegs, bridge, sound post, nut), repair of open seams, and a free professional cleaning/polishing.

It does not cover varnish touch up, strings replacement, bow rehairing, or repair from any damage incurred.
What happens if I break a string or my instrument needs repair?
String replacement is covered with your rental fees; this applies to broken and old strings. Please keep your fingernails short; this will lengthen the life of your strings. If your instrument needs repair, you or your teacher will need to contact us. We will provide a replacement instrument for you if necessary.
What does my accident insurance cover?
Accident insurance covers loss by fire, theft and any accidental damage. If your instrument is stolen, you will need to file a police report and forward a copy to us. If your instrument is severely damaged, your insurance rate may increase. Examples include broken instrument necks, and splintered or cracked instruments.
Is it better to rent or buy an instrument?
If you are just starting out, it is better to rent. Allow yourself a minimum of three to six months to find out if you really have the desire, motivation and time to play. Your rental payments will build up like equity during this time. Once you are a committed player, it may be better to purchase. Your rental accumulation can be applied toward a purchase. If you are an accomplished player or simply have been playing for a while and are not in the position to buy, we do offer upgraded rentals.
